Every legend needs a partner.
This striking Victorian Staffordshire flatback equestrian figurine depicts Tom King — the notorious highwayman and partner of Dick Turpin — mounted on his chestnut horse in his signature cobalt blue coat, pink waistcoat, and white tricorn hat. Bold, confident, and beautifully painted, this is one of the most collectible figures in all of Victorian Staffordshire pottery.
Tom King and Dick Turpin rode together as England's most romanticized highway outlaws, and the Staffordshire potters immortalized them as a pair. Produced circa 1860s, when their legend was at the height of Victorian popular fascination, these figures were made to face each other on a mantle or fireplace shelf.
The base is titled "T. King" in classic Staffordshire lettering — authentic, original, and unmistakable.
Also available: Dick Turpin — his partner in crime and his companion on your mantle.
